Language barriers and technology limitations

Language barriers and technology limitations experienced by culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) – Arabic and Vietnamese carers that hinder their access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Language barriers and technology limitations experienced by culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) carers (in particular Arabic and Vietnamese carers) that hinder their access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Justify the research question which is “Do CALD carers (specifically Arabic and Vietnamese CALD carers) have a lower rate of participation in the NDIS as opposed to the broader population? Does this lower rate, if confirmed, sufficiently explain the existence of language barriers and language barriers in NDIS access gap?

Would this people with language barriers be able to browse the information in English on the NDIS website, understand and prove the eligibility requirements! participate in the NDIS planning stage etc ? Would people feel that the whole process is overwhelming for them and give up.. etc

In fact, there are some information in Arabic and Vietnamese on the NDIS website. But how carers with language barriers and technology limitations can access this information in their preferred language! The first impression for them is that they think they are lost when they visit the NDIS website https://www.ndis.gov.au/index.html

They do not know where to go or where to look on this website while they do not speak English, lack technology literacy and have nobody to help them or they have cultural stigma of disclosing disability information about their loved ones.
