Physics 322L Lab Report

Abstract (2 points)
• Purpose or objective of the lab;
• Brief summary of the result(s)

Introduction (4 points)
• Theory related to the experiment(s);
• Formula related and used in data processing – number all Equations and explain what each variable is.

Procedure (4 points)
• Instruments and/or materials used;
• Set up of the experiment(s); and
• Step-by-step procedure – explain what was performed/done in the lab.

Data (5 points)
• Can be as part of the main report or as attachment.

Results and Analysis (35 points)
• Tabulate all data and plot all the necessary graphs – make sure all Tables and Figures are labeled properly, have all the variables and units, and have measurement errors, and error bars are displayed in all the Figures;
• Calculate experimental and theoretical values, along with the error values – includes sample calculation for experimental values and the error (least square, error propagation, etc.), handwriting as attachment is acceptable;
• Analyze data based on what is asked in the handout – includes systematical errors, if any; and
• Answer all questions asked in the handout, if any.

Conclusion/Summary (5 points)
• Summarize all results – connect it with the purpose/objective of the lab and tabulate if necessary.

Overall report (5 points)
• Overall presentation – add page number; is clear, concise and understandable; etc.

Extra Credit experiment (10 points)
