Each week students will be required to participate in an online discussion board. Each week, supplemental materials (e.g., YouTube videos, news article, personality assessment) and a prompt will be provided. Each student will submit 1 post per week containing AT LEAST 250 words. Students will also be required to respond to AT LEAST one (1)of their classmate’s posts (AT LEAST 250 words).
For this discussion, watch both Ted Talks and read the article. Following, consider the questions listed below in creating your post. Be sure to incorporate terms and concepts from the chapter in your post.
This week you were tasked with learning about cultural views of mental illness. We saw that there are drastic differences between eastern and western cultures in the way mental illness is viewed, which influences their beliefs about what causes mental illness and proper treatment.
How has culture influenced your view of mental health?
How is culture contributing to the stigma surrounding mental health?
How can we, as a society, combat the effect culture has on our behavior regarding mental health?
