A well-developed
introductory paragraph should provide an overview of the scope and
purpose of the paper. Following this should be a brief relevant
country profile (no more than 1-1.5 pages) that offers information on
the following items:
the most relevant political, economic and demographic
characteristics;
the primary allies, adversaries, trading partners, etc. paying
particular attention to the other member states participating in the
UNGA sessions (see chart above)
membership in global or regional international governmental
organizations (IGOs), for example, the World Trade Organization
(WTO), African Union (AU), Association of South East Asian Nations
(ASEAN), European Union (EU), League of Arab States (ARAB
LEAGUE), Organization of American States (OAS), North Atlantic
Treaty Organization (NATO), etc.
The majority of the paper should focus on the countrys positions
regarding the core issues for the UNGA sessions as determined in
class. The paper ultimately should answer the following questions
using research related to the UNGA and the agenda issues.

What does your country identify as the most important aspects or
problems related to the issues?
What are your countrys proposed solutions or goals regarding the
issues given the problems identified?
What other countries do you expect to be your negotiation
partners? That is, what countries will share your countrys goals?
What countries do you expect to be more adversarial during
negotiations, and why?
A concluding paragraph should provide a clear and definitive final
statement about the countrys position and goals on the issues.
A complete bibliography of all sources used not just those with
in-text citations needs to be attached to the paper. The Chicago
Manual of Style should be used for all paper and citation formatting (see
library website and contact a librarian or me for help).
1. There should be a minimum of 8 sources used.
2. At least 3 primary sources such as government or international
documents, speeches, etc.,
3. Secondary sources such as scholarly/peer reviewed material.
4. Unacceptable sources such as any generative AI, Wikipedia,
History.com and social media should not be used.
