For this paper, analyze any piece of Canadiana (meaning a piece of media, art, image, ad, etc. related to Canada.) You might, for example, look at how images of the RCMP have been used to shape Canada’s brand. You could look at Celine Dion or other Canadians celebrities. You could analyze a tourist brochure and see how Canada promotes itself. You could watch and critique a Canadian Heritage minute.
Some questions you may ask are: what narratives of Canada does this piece engage in? Why was this media popular or spoke to Canadians? What ideas are represented? Is this piece satiric? What social or political idea is it responding to?
