Code Mapping Directions

  The I-MAGIC (Interactive Map-Assisted Generation of ICD Codes) Algorithm utilizes the SNOMED CT to ICD-10-CM Map in a real-time, interactive manner to generate ICD-10-CM codes. You will use the I-MAGIC map to analyze the mappings, verify the SNOMED CT and ICD-10-10 codes, and make necessary corrections. Directions: 1. Download the template Download template. This file contains the mapping of SNOMED CT codes and ICD-10-CM codes for ten diagnoses. 2. Open the following link: I-MAGIC Mapper. 3. Enter the diagnosis description, such as “low back pain” into the “Problem” field. 4. Click on “GET ICD Codes.” You may have to further refine the problem to locate the correct code. 5. Evaluate both the SNOMED CT and ICD-10-CM codes. 6. Make any necessary corrections directly on the spreadsheet. 7. Enter the ICD-10-CM Code name. Make sure you include the entire ICD code name, not just a portion - you will not receive points if the names are not an exact match. 8. Click on the “Back to Problem List” to start with the next description. 9. After making the necessary corrections to the code mapping, submit your completed Excel file.
