Cognitive Psychology

Recently news anchor, Brian Williams, was called out for reporting on events that he claimed he was a part of, but have now been called into question. Please read some of the articles I’ve linked (or do your own outside research) and answer the following prompt:

Slate article (Links to an external site.)

Discover Magazine Article (Links to an external site.)

Using the evidence from this class (cite the book if you consult lecture notes) and at least one of the articles I’ve linked to, explain how Williams may have come to have these memories. Do you think he was actively and deliberately lying or could memory errors be to blame? What sort of punishment (if any) would be appropriate given the research on this topic and his responsibility as a journalist?

Plan to write about 1 to 1.5 double-spaced pages. Make sure to consult the rubric when writing your response.
