- You will gather 10 hours of videos from the Internet that pertain to special education students.
- you will list the videos (Title, time and link) . Its important that that the video run time/ hours add up to
10:00:00 on your official log sheet.
In essence, each journal entry should represent a stand-alone mini paper addressing the theme of your
choice.
EXAMPLE HERE: 10:00 https://youtu.be/3heXNBciKrM “Ms. Kelly’s Special Education Classroom”
12:41 https://youtu.be/kkZPbGXD66Y 6 stages of Autism Meltdowns
THESE TWO LISTED ARE EXAMPLES ONLY - Part II B: The Reflective Journal
Here you will group your videos into 4-5 common themes. Thematic topics include, but are not limited to,
culturally responsive practices for meeting the needs (academic, social, emotional, behavioral) of diverse
populations, working with students who have Autism, or Students with behavioral disorders. You will write
one journal entry for each theme. You must have a minimum of 4 themes/entries to meet the requirements
of this assignment. ( 150 MIN) EACH THEME ENTRY
Each reflective journal entry should include a minimum of 150 words separated by the following APA
formatted headings, and at least one citation or quotation from a professional journal or text that is less than
5 years old.
Introduction (background information on the students you observed, i.e., high school students with Autism)
Thematic discussion: State the theme and discuss the commonalities observed, differences observed, etc.)
and what you learned. This is a good spot to incorporate the outside research component from a current
Journal article.
Conclusion: In this section you will discuss remaining questions you may have, detail epiphanies (“ah-ha
moments”) you had or include personal reflections regarding how the video/theme impacted you personally.
References. Be sure to list the videos you incorporated into this theme and the journal article
