Compare and contrast literary technique of the Local Color and Southern
Renascence periods. You may approach this assignment in whatever way you like, although I recommend
choosing one or more literary devices (“eye dialect,” metaphor, narrative structure, etc.) and analyze how
writers employ and/or develop that device or devices.
Make sure that you include the following elements in the paper:
- A title that identifies the topic and authors you are writing about
- A strong, clear thesis that presents the essence of your paper
- Examples from the text to support your assertions
- Explanation of the significance of the findings resulting from your comparing and contrasting
- Clear, error-free writing with effective transitions
The paper must be 5-7 pages, double-spaced in Times New Roman 12 font. It must be submitted as a
Microsoft Word document, and the filename must be your name with “paper 2” added (example: Emilia
Sanchez would use the file name “emiliasanchezpaper2”).
