For your first project, I’d like you to create a project charter. This can be for a project you’re currently working on or a project that you would like to work on. For this project, you must include the following items:

Project Manager Authority

Here’s a breakdown of the information you need to include for each item in the Project Charter:
Project Information: Provide the five pieces of information that identify your project.
Project Overview: Provide the five pieces of information that provide an overview of the project.
Purpose: In 1-3 sentences explain why you are doing this project.
Description: Explain what will be done to accomplish the purpose.
Requirements: These are the “musts” of the project.
Risks: List one or more things that could jeopardize successful completion of the project.
Budget: Provide a single line item with the overall project budget.
Project Objectives: Provide project specific objectives related to scope, schedule and budget. (Placeholders have been provided in the template.)
Objective: Each objective should be written as a project goal statement (left column).
Success Criteria: Describe how success will be measured against the objective (right column).
Milestone Schedule: Provide an outline of the project milestones and the expected dates of completion. With the exception of the start milestone, all other milestones should indicate the completion of a major work effort or phase.
Project Stakeholder List: Provide the key stakeholders and their role in the project.
