For your articles you need to be reading reputable, quality and unbiased sources. The articles that you select need to be a minimum of 500 words. Keep in mind you will be writing a paragraph summary and you need substantial information to summarize. Some recommended sources, please ask if you are concerned about an article that you have selected.
Examples: New York Times, BBC, Al Jazeera
Assignment Details
Choose an article that is relevant to the topic. Make sure that you choose a substantial article that will have plenty of information for you to complete the assignment.
Write a title for your summary that easily distinguishes the topic you are writing about.
Read the entire article and make sure you understand what is going on. That might mean looking up words, events, organizations, countries, etc. that you are unfamiliar with.
Write one paragraph (approx. 200 to 250 words) summarizing what is going on in the article. Since this a short summary, you should not be quoting anything directly from the article. Your summary should stay within the word limit, you need to be able to succinctly convey the article.
Write one paragraph (approx. 200 to 250 words) describing how the concepts we are studying in class relate to this current event. Use specific examples of how the concepts discussed in class are present in the event you are discussing. *Note this is not an opinion paper and should be an objective application of course material.*
