The purpose of this team assignment is to develop a primary health care community-based initiative to address pediatric mental health (children ages 6-12), which employs coalition building, relational development with policy leaders, as well as technology for education and/or outreach. The team will share in the one grade.
Each team will make a presentation to the class on their focal topic and their proposed initiative. The class will act as an interested party, and the team will have to ‘pitch’ their idea in a convincing way to entice a potential ally. For example, the group may be trying to induce a stakeholder organization to join the coalition; lobby for support from a politician for necessary legislation; or procure funding from a philanthropic organization.
A. What kinds of collaborative relationships were developed? Did a collaboration or coalition emerge to address the target phenomenon in regards to CAPTA – Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act?
B. Discuss the legislative context that exists with regard to this Pediatric Mental Health (and CAPTA if and when applicable).
