Quality Associates Inc is a consulting firm that advises its clients about sampling and statistical procedures that can be used to control their manufacturing company.

A client gave Quality Inc a large sum of data and asked to conduct a hypothesis test on its process and to take 4 samples of data to learn whether the process is operating satisfactorily. If the process is not satisfactory the client will know to take action to eliminate the problem.

The design specification indicated the mean for the process should be 12. The population mean is assumed to be the same as the sample mean for each sample set.

The hypothesis test suggested is as follows:
H0: Mean = 12
Ha: Mean ? 12
