Hadith of Prophet Muhammad

The actions and words of the Prophet are recorded in the Hadith literature. Every Hadith report has two parts — Isnad and Matan.
Isnad is the chain of transmission from the time of the Prophet until the time of the Hadith collector. A geneological study was made of the people in
the transmission sequence to determine if the chain was authentic or it was invalid.
Matn is the actual text of the statements and actions of the Prophet.
There are 2 kinds of Hadith.
In regular Hadith the narration consists of the interaction of Prophet Muhammad with the environment that surrounded him—i.e. his companions and
society.
In Hadith al-Qudsi (sacred Hadith) the statements of the Prophet relate to his spiritual quest and his search for the Truth (Haqq) and ultimate reality
(Haqiqat). In the Hadith al-Qudsi, the Prophet’s personal queries/ questions to Almighty God and the subsequent divine responses/ answers are
recorded.
