Texts, Martin Luther King Jr. in his “Letter from Birmingham Jail” comments specifically on his arrest during a civil rights protest in Birmingham, Alabama but extends his analysis beyond to the treatment of African-Americans in the 1960s.  This documents give a great perspective on how injustice occurs and what injustice is  illustrating injustice in action.
Assignment: Write a persuasive letter to a specific person or organization about an act of social injustice that can and should be stopped. Be sure to define the act, provide facts about its occurrence and state what you would like this person to do.
Requirements:
•    The letter should be addressed to the appropriate audience. Make sure you have the correct address and make sure your audience is a person/group with enough power to end the unjust act.
•    Begin by introducing yourself and the purpose of your letter.
•    Since you are trying to persuade this person to act against a particular injustice, you are expected to give convincing evidence, which will hopefully get him/her to pay attention!
•    Should be approximately 1 page in length, typed, double-spaced, in 12pt font. Please format margins to 1-inch.
•    The goal is to write a sound argument. This includes acknowledging possible rebuttals to your position.
