this essay is 2100 words (+/-10%) (which means the word range is 1890-2310) excluding the references. You should choose a case first, the type of the case is given in the essay guideline. Examples of the case includes: HD DVD/BluRay/Body Scan etc. Choose a easy case with sufficient academic resources so that it makes your analysis easier. Second, you should introduce TD (Technological determinism) theory, apply TD theory to the case you choose. ?introducing TD is compulsory) Third, You should choose your main theory for the essay from Social Shaping, SCOT and ANT(Actor-network theory), apply the theory to the case you choose. In the guideline, the lecturer analysed the case: “frontline tourniquet”. You cannot use the same case as the lectuers’, but it provides a very specific guideline for you to analyze your own case, it is extremely helpful. STS case study is an outline relating to a course option and a major final year project/dissertation in STS. Clearly it involves much more work than your coursework but some parts may help with ideas and references.
