From the university – “You decide an argument emerged during the classes of a particular area (science,
nutrition, & psych);
it can also be a research question if you like
(example: what are the relations between food and psych?).
Then, you discuss this topic – or research question – in an academic way: this means that it is a collection of
personal thoughts, but organized in a coherent way and supported by references. References can be
academic journals, books, and reliable websites (avoid wikipedia), that you already read for each course (of
course you can use different sources, but I suggest you to keep the argument as close as possible to what you
discussed in class, using references that you already discussed with the lecturers).
So, the final essay must include a title (that you choose), the main body (organized in a coherent way), and a
list of references
The length must not exceed 2000 words.
Of course, you can refer also (but not only) to what the lecturers told you in class; and you are encouraged to
choose an argument that crosses different courses, thus combining different perspectives.
Final suggestions: be creative and accurate, and build a solid argument based on the classes you attended this
semester. Be consistent and specific and keep it simple and focused.”
The paper is about the subject area of “Science, Nutrition, and Psychology” in relation to gastronomy. We took
3 classes under that subject of “dietetics and wellbeing”, “food and psychology”, and “food & science”. I added
this paper under psych because there isnt an option for gastronomy and if I could write the paper myself it is
probably the subject area I would choose. Keep in mind that I attend a university where I study food as a whole
so it could be able chemistry, psychology, food memories, etc. Please let me know if you have any questions
