The Impressionists explored new types of subject matter (the suburban countryside, the city, and leisure) with new approaches to composition, color, and brushwork. Using artwork “Edvard Munch, The Scream” discuss the relationship between subject and technique. In other words between what is being represented and how the scene is being represented. Be sure to write about how subject and form are made to work together, or don’t, in your example.
