Video Analysis

Watch 5 of your classmate’s oral video presentations from the Artist Research Project in the “Discussions” tab.
After watching each of your 5 chosen video PPTs, write one paragraph about each presentation according to the assignment sheet below. Your assignment will have 5 paragraphs, one for each student presentation.
Remember not to copy text from the student powerpoints! You will need to write descriptions in your own
words.
Each paragraph should contain the following information.
• Introduce the name of the student as well as the artist’s full name.
• Describe what you see in the artwork in detail. For example, “Andy Goldsworthy makes outdoor sculptures in
organic, natural shapes. Some of these shapes are in star, circular, and arch patterns, but they still have an
element of abstraction.”
• Explain the media (materials) the artist works with. “Andy Goldsworthy uses natural materials like ice, water,
leaves, sticks, stones, mud, and shells in order to construct these handmade artworks.”
• Explain the theme or symbolism of the artwork. “Goldsworthy’s themes seem to relate directly to natural
shapes. He seems to want the viewer to start to notice the beauty of nature by making art from it. He often
uses shapes found in nature in order to bring to focus locations of beauty.”
• What did you most enjoy learning about this artist?
