In Von Colson & Kamann v Land Nordrhein-Westfalen (Case 14/83) [1984] ECR 1891, the Court of Justice held that: “it is for the national court to interpret and apply the legislation adopted for the implementation of the directive in conformity with the requirements of community law, in so far as it is given discretion to do so under national law’ Critically assess the scope of the limitation to the interpretative obligation of the national courts in Von Colson and how such scope of interpretation has been further developed by the CJEU in subsequent c​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​ases.
