Achieving emotional balance is critical in establishing and maintaining healthy interpersonal functioning. In considering this week’s chapter reading (specifically pp., 197-198) and this week’s resources, which of the following emotional styles best describes your typical way of managing emotions: suppressing emotions, capitulating emotions, over-expressing emotions, or accommodating emotions? What are the advantages and disadvantages associated with your particular style? Has your style changed as you have grown and matured over time?
