Assignment 2
As indicated in the readings, each Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) role and population focus is unique and critical to the delivery of health care services. This assignment entails the development of a narrated PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) on one of the different APRN roles (there is a total of four) and population focus (there is a total of six). The four roles are: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse-Midwife, and Certified Nurse Practitioner. The Certified Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist is further divided into the following six population focus: Family, Psychiatric/Mental Health across the lifespan, Adult/Gerontology, Pediatric, Neonatal, and Women’s Health and Gender-related.
To summarize, you are asked to develop a PPT on one role/population focus using the guidelines described below. For example, you may develop a presentation on the Certified Nurse Practitioner (role) and Neonatal focus (population focus). Under the ‘notes’ section of each slide, please write your narration. Plan to talk for about 10-15 minutes, which may translate to 10-15 slides. Also, if you use in-text/presentation citations, please include the reference on that slide. The Purdue Online Writing Lab has great resources on how to develop an effective PPT.

Outline and explain each competency/standard of care for the selected APRN role
APRN Issues and Challenges
Explain at least 3 current challenges/issues for this APRN role and population focus. For example, are there regulatory barriers? Are there barriers in privileging and credentialing of APRNs in healthcare facilities?
Future of the APRN role
Describe future implications for this role. You may discuss regulatory, political, legislative, reimbursement/payment, and/or practice changes.
