Advertising Technique Selling an Ordinary Product Order Description Your assignment is to design an ad campaign using some of the techniques learned throughout the semester to sell an ordinary, everyday product. Produce at least 3 ads of your choice – print, television, radio, etc. These should look somewhat professional (I know you’re not all design majors, but do your very best to make them look polished and clean). Details: Assume your product is just like all the other competing brands. It works just fine, but is no better or worse than others. You may use any ordinary, everyday product, or select from this list: toothpaste, tennis balls, aspirin, coffee, ballpoint pens, lotion, or shampoo. Create a brand name for your product. Show how you would advertise your product to different market segments by changing only superficial aspects of the product such as color, appearance, packaging, pricing, and brand name. Explain these variations and why you think they will boost sales. Show how you would appeal to emotions to sell your product. Would you utilize a celebrity or lay endorser? If so, who and why? Create ads appealing to at least two different market segments. Here are some segments to consider in your plan: male/female, those who often buy the best or most expensive, those who usually shop for a bargain, those seeking self-improvement. Demonstrate some knowledge of demographics by describing the type of consumer most likely to buy your brand. Which medium/media would you use to reach this consumer and why?
