Airline Consolidation and Labor Supply

      1. Research the activity of bankruptcies, mergers and acquisitions post-9/11 in the US airline industry.  Investigate the creeping labor shortage and actions taken to address the situation during this same period.  2. Consider the following questions as you conduct your research: o What role should labor unions play in the airline industry?o How should the protection of jobs be balanced with the potential savings in consolidating operations?o How will the labor shortage influence future consolidation in the market? o How will this consolidation impact future labor contract negotiations and working conditions for pilots?3.
