Literary analysis looks closely at the text and the author’s use of literary elements to discuss and make interpretations on the work as a whole. You must address at least two literary elements and take a careful look at how each author builds a theme through the use of these two element In a literary analysis you should argue a point using the text to prove your assertions. Present quotations and paraphrases to help support your main claim. Discuss how the quoted material might be relevant to or support your points by focusing on smooth transitions into and out of quoted passages Do not refer to any outside sources on the story: we want your own original ideas on the text! Guiding Questions: You are encouraged to develop your own topic for the essay; however, the following questions are designed to help you see all the possibilities. The guidance you received in class on literary analysis should be reflected in the essay( use the quotations, paraphrase, and proper citation, close textual analysis, pushing beyond the obvious to make an original statement on the text.)
