Attend a religious service that is outside of your normal practice. For example, if you usually attend a Christian church, try finding a Jewish Temple, an Islamic
Mosque or Unitarian Universalist congregation. This experience is meant to put you outside your comfort zone, this will help you ″make the strange familiar″. If you
are finding it difficult, try to find a ″gate-keeper″ who belongs to or is familiar with your choice of religious service that will accompany and advise you. Make
shorthand notes while you′re there, then sit down and write out longer notes right after you leave. Be sure to make note of the physical differences in the building
(architecture and location) and the people (how they are dressed, how they act, etc.) Give a complete summary of what occurred. Compare and contrast the service and
the members to what you are more accustomed to in your tradition (or lack thereof). Use your desсrіption to paint a mental picture of the service. Include assumptions
you had, your reactions and the feelings you had before as well as after. Consider and observe the practices usually associated with religion as discussed in the
textbook. The final result should be in essay format, 2 to 4 pages long, double spaced with 1-inch margins and typed in Times New Roman 12 pt font. Use MLA or AAA
format guidelines for citations. Spelling and grammar count, please be sure to check grammar, spelling, and format. If you can not physically attend a service, please
contact me BEFORE the project is due.
