Order Description
Answer one of the following questions in an essay 5-8 pages in length. Be sure to support your argument with carefully chosen quotations from the text. Be sure to
include a title and please reference all quotations using a standard citation method (such as MLA or Chicago Style).
1) Aristotle's "Politics" critiques Plato's radial proposals to reform the Greek city state (Plato's "three waves") and proposes in their place a "realistic" plan to
create a stable, virtuous city. What is Aristotle's critique of Plato, and what is his realistic alternative to Plato's perfectly just city? How successful is
Aristotle's attempt to surpass Plato?
2) What is the good or best life for the city and for the individual according to Aristotle? Be sure to discuss Aristotle's views in his "Politics" as well as in his
"Nicomachean Ethics".
