Due: 3/24 In this assignment, you will write an essay examining two texts according to how they approach a shared theme or idea. When synthesized, how do these two texts help you to understand the theme/idea better and/or how do these two texts complicate your existing definition/understanding of this theme/idea? When grading this essay, I will be paying close attention to these elements: •Work with quotations- Quotes should be explained, analyzed, and connected back to your theme. Don’t just use quotes to finish your sentences. • Synthesis- Remember that you are combining the ideas of two texts to enhance your understanding of a theme or idea. • Coherence- This essay should abide traditional rules of structure, with an introduction containing a thesis statement, body paragraphs that explore this thesis, and a conclusion that makes a summative statement about the ideas you have presented.
