Business Current Events

    Provide an overview of a current business-related event that you came across in the news. For example, a company accused of committing something unethical or socially irresponsible. Summarize the event/issue including the information about the company in your own words (heading 1). Then use the textbook to analyze this event and explain it using the concepts that are presented in the textbook (heading 2). The problem statement and analysis of the situation should give a brief introduction to the event. The re-port should identify what the problem is that will be resolved in the subsequent sections. Why is the situa-tion a problem? What are some aspects of the problem that require attention? The last sentence in this sec-tion should clearly state who the decision maker is and what his or her problem is. Your role is to advice the decision-maker in the ease so that he/she can solve the problem. The decision maker can be the CEO, another manager or anyone you choose. Express alternative approaches to solve the problem. There should be more than one way of solving a problem or improving the situation. Push yourself to think of at least three. I find that when students seek that third or fourth alternative, they make better recommendations.
