Case for requiring Clinical Pastoral Education of Muslim religious leaders.
Case for requiring Clinical Pastoral Education of Muslim religious leaders.
Order Description
an argumentative research paper. It will argue that CPE has been a proven method used by other faiths to prepare religious leaders for the world they live in. Clinical Pastoral Education is interfaith professional education for ministry. It brings theological students and ministers of all faiths (pastors, priests, rabbis, imams and others) into supervised encounter with persons in crisis. Out of an intense involvement with persons in need, and the feedback from peers and teachers, students develop new awareness of themselves as persons and of the needs of those to whom they minister. From theological reflection on specific human situations, they gain a new understanding of ministry. Within the interdisciplinary team process of helping persons, they develop skills in interpersonal and interprofessional relationships. It will argue that Muslim leaders should required by communities and organizations to participate and be certified through such a program or develop and equivalent program. Theological/seminary training is not sufficient for leadership and must be couple with real world experience and the person themselves must be challenged by peers to analyze their own biases and personality traits as to how they manifest personally and interpersonally. CPE focusses on developing self-awareness which is principle within Islam spirituality. CPE has proven to be effective in helping religious leaders to explore this process within a context of service and exposure to a large array of persons and challenges.
Argue for the importance of particpation in such a program for the individual and its effect on communities/society.
This argument must be clearly stated in a working thesis statement. All body paragraphs must be focused and organized, clearly relating back to the thesis.
