Cognitive behavior therapy
Description
Anxiety and depression are the most prevalent mental disorders in society. The main medical treatment for depression or anxiety is antidepressant medication. Psychotherapy is the most common alternative to drug treatment for clients who experience depression and anxiety. There are many forms of psychotherapy such as psychodynamic, behavioural, cognitive, and humanistic therapy to name a few. There are many factors which influence whether a single psychotherapy is more effective than drug therapy or not, for example the level of severity of symptoms, level of functioning or whether the client has a clinical diagnosis or not. Choosing one psychotherapy only, design a study to test chosen psychotherapy to demonstrate how it compares to the efficacy of traditional antidepressant medication in treating either depression or anxiety?
