Description
there are two discussion questions.
A company wants to hire you as an expert developer of virtual environments. For those of their departments with employees working at different locations (e.g. worldwide marketing and sales), they want to implement a virtual environment that all sales and marketing specialists can enter the morning and leave at the end of the workday. Thus, they would work within the virtual environment all the time, representing a “normal” office where people work side by side at their desks. The application should allow employees to talk to each other everywhere they go. Employees and managers should also have the opportunity to have private meetings for performance review discussions and other confidential conversations. To use the full potential of virtual reality, the company wants that the virtual environment offers all the advantages of a real office-based work environment, with some additional features that make the virtual office even more productive/enjoyable than the traditional office.
- Describe the key features and the “look and feel” of the virtual environment that you would design for this company. Remember, before you get the money from the company to implement the application, you need to convince them with a good design plan. Use some of the features of virtual reality that may help to create an even better/more efficient/more motivating work environment. Your design can go beyond the requirements set by the company listed above, but must at least address all of those. It may help to go over a “normal” workday and think about what employees may need/or need to do throughout the day.
- Now, worldwide sales and marketing specialists and managers are working within your virtual environment. Where do you see the biggest advantages and the biggest challenges for them compared to working in a real office (explain 3 advantages and 3 disadvantages).
