Comparison of family policies in the US and Western Europe
Order Description
a research paper of at least 10 pages comparing family policies in the US with those in western europe, with a focus on France, through a feminist lens. Topics would
include marriage and divorce rates, child care policies (what the government helps pay for, what it doesn't, etc), healthcare ( I know that can a be a whole paper on
it's own, but this would narrow it down to maybe family planning), differences in what kind of social welfare policies are available and how socio-economic class
effects a family's functionality. Workplace policies should be a big part too - what the family/sick leaves are like, vacation time, etc. The course this is for is
focused on how the modern American family has adapted to current challenges and it's relation to society, so this paper should be about comparing how American families
do that and how European families do it, and which country is better equipped to do so, based on social, cultural, and economic factors. I am flexible on the number of
sources, I have two ready to go, one which I will upload from my textbook. A historical comparison would be nice, too, if that helps with the essay. The only real
request I have as it comes to the topics are that, as I mentioned before, everything is done through a feminist focus, as most of the other work for this class has
been about that. Also, the main purpose of the essay is to compare France and the US, but I wasn't sure if that would give enough material for 10 pages, so I expanded
it to all of Western Europe, but as much as you can focus on France would be great.
