Configure CMOS setup and procedures for maintaining a computer system.
(40 Marks)
CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) is a manufacturing technology for integrated
circuits used to store some PC settings such as the date/time, hard drive configuration, boot
sequence and other BIOS settings even when the computer is turned off.
- Using a specialized tool for PC Building Simulations, demonstrate the steps required in CMOS
memory and battery setup. You need to explain with the support of pictures at least four steps
involved in this process.
(20 marks) - Enter the BIOS Setup Utility of your computer, access to the configuration of the following
settings and complete the required tasks:
a. Find the current BIOS version
b. Display the current Boot order
c. Secure your computer with a BIOS password
d. Display the current configuration of fan speeds and system voltages.

Task 3: Conduct a research on Security requirements and available security features in an Operating
system
(50 Marks)
In today’s computing environment, computer security has become a vital concern of the users
due to the widespread of information sharing on the network and the increasing number of
threats to which a computer may be exposed.
With reference to at least two research papers, prepare a report with a number of words between
600 and 800, in which you study the following:
a) The importance of security for today’s networks
(20 marks)
b) Choose an example of operating system for which you need to study at least 5 security
features and critically evaluate them.
