Critical Essay: Community Development as an approach in Mental Health Field

Drawing on readings and case studies presented in your subject materials, critically assess the potential for community development as a strategy for addressing social, cultural, economic and/or environmental issues either within the Australian context or in an international context. N.B: I have chosen to explore a Community Development as an approach in Mental Health Field. Thinking in terms of recovery and consumer participation also thinking particularly in terms of Indigenous mental health This second assignment is quite different to the first, so while you may use case studies to inform part of your analysis, they would not comprise your main sources. The purpose of this assignment is to provide an overall assessment for the potential for community development to tackle the big issues. We can’t infer the potential of Community Development to address, for example, environmental issues, by looking at one case study about the environment. Rather a range of scholarly resources need to be drawn on to identify the potential and pitfalls of Community Development to come up with your assessment about the Community Development approach in general.
