Debating Multiculturalism

Project description we have discussed the ways that various identity categories affect peoples lives, both positively and negatively, as citizens and as social beings. Now its time to apply this to your own lives! Take one or two of the dimensions of identity that we have discussed in class (race, gender, class, sexual orientation), and write about how the categories you apply to yourself or that others have applied to you have affected your life. Are there privileges that you have had or not had because of your membership in a category? (Note that most categories come with both privileges and disadvantages.) Have people made assumptions about you or perceived you in ways that are inaccurate? An ideal paper will integrate and apply concepts from the course.
