Depression
Depression
Format for the Research Paper Once you have chosen a disorder begin your research. You will need a minimum of 5 academic sources. You may use only one website. The
other sources should be books and journal articles from 2008 - 2017. Journal articles are scholarly sources. For example, the Journal of Counseling and Development or
the Journal of Family Psychology are both acceptable. Time and Reader’s Digest are not scholarly sources. You need at least three pages of text in your draft. Once you
understand the disorder you will write a research paper which describes how a person who is diagnosed with that disorder may be impacted. Your paper must describe the
symptoms, causes, and treatments for that mental illness. You must be thorough in covering each of these topics. Your final paper will have in text citations for the
sources you have used. To avoid plagiarism, you must give credit to the author of the source. If you are directly quoting the source you must use quotation marks and a
citation in the text with a citation in your bibliography. For a good paper use quotes sparingly, only for particularly important points. If you are synthesizing your
sources and then paraphrasing using your own words you must do more than just change a few words. Also, even when paraphrasing, you must use a citation in the text
with a citation in your bibliography. If you are plagiarizing it will be clear when I see the originality report in Turnitin. Your paper should be word processed,
double-spaced in 12 point Times New Roman font. You will need to submit a minimum of 5 pages along with a bibliography of works cited. Also your sources should be
cited in the text of your paper. Following the bibliography include a reflection paper of a minimum of 1 page. In this reflective paper explore how your life would be
different if you were diagnosed with this psychological disorder. The research paper is due Thursday, November 16th at the beginning of the class period. You will
submit your paper through our blackboard website. No printed or emailed copies will be accepted for credit. As such, you must submit your paper electronically via the
“Research Paper” assignment on Blackboard, on or before the due date; submissions must be in .pdf, .docx, or .doc format. The paper will automatically be reviewed by
Turnitin. This process checks in a very thorough manner for acts of plagiarism. The program will also find a match if you have submitted the work for a prior class.
