In the Sixth Meditation. Descartes claims that -Mlle mind is proved to be really distinct from the body. even though the mind is shown to be so closely joined to the body that it forms a single unit with it' (p. 40). How does Descartes try to show that the mind is really distinct from the body and that it is so closely joined to the body that it forms a single unit with it? Is he successful?
