Order Description This was my experience expand on it.to see a young 25-year-old gentleman who was referred from his primary physician’s office who had an office in the same building, for episode of passing out and chest pain. The cardiologist glanced over the EKG and his vitals, while briefly asking his reason for the visit. He then proceeded to say that his EKG was normal and that he would get a stress echocardiogram to complete the workup. As he was waiting for the cardiologist to read his stress test, I opened a friendly conversation about what he did for Thanksgiving. He told me about his visit to his family in Alabama and the long ride back. He said he was able to make it back in less than 30 hours as he had very few stops. It quickly occurred to me that I must discuss with the cardiologist the conversation we had about his long car ride and the possibility of lung clots. Stress echocardiogram was completed, and we waited for the cardiologist to read his stress echocardiogram that he said was normal. I then brought my concern to the cardiologist who agreed to run additional tests including a CT chest. The next time I visited the same office, the cardiologist told me the young patient we had seen together was doing well on blood thinners. My role as an observer at this office, has further strengthened my decision to pursue a career in medicine, and make a difference in people’s lives and help the community. The experiences at this facility has ignited a strong interest in how we approach patient care, especially in the era of electronic medical record, where the computer takes preference over the communication with the patient. It was here that I experienced first-hand the power and compassion of medicine. My interest in medicine was sparked even as a child when I accompanied my mother, who is a physician, a graduate of Temple university internal medicine program., went on rounds She is a hospitalist. I would play games sitting in the office, while not being able to resist the kind compassionate voices from the secretary to the doctors trying to help the patient or family member on the other side of the phone. I was amazed to see the enthusiasm and smiles that filled the hospital corridors. I am eager to join the field of medicine to make a difference in everyday lives. ready to challenge and prove make my dream a reality of becoming a physician. the role of physicians in society as healers, leaders, innovators, social scientists, and patriots.
