Developing and empowering instructional leaders
Developing and empowering instructional leaders
Paper details:
Read the following case study to inform the assignment.
In preparation for grade-level meetings, an alarming trend has surfaced with your third grade team. Two of the three teachers on the team are experiencing good to
exceptional outcomes on their DIBELS benchmark data. Additionally, they have historically yielded above average state standardized testing results in comparison to
schools in your district with similar demographics. Both teachers cite their efforts to plan together utilizing the pacing guide, core program, and assessment results
as the primary reasons for their outcomes. The third teacher has been identified as an outlier by the district’s assessment coordinator, relative to her results
compared to the other two teachers at your school. Additionally, you have observed evidences that suggest that she is not at the same place on the pacing guide as her
colleagues. You also have anecdotal information that she does not engage with her teammates during scheduled grade-level meetings, which leads you to believe that she
is not making an effort to plan with them outside the scheduled meetings.
In 750-1,000-words, analyze the case using the three-part guiding questions below. Conclude with the actions steps you will take to resolve this problem. Be sure to
demonstrate how the action steps support the school's vision.
Part 1: Analyze the Case
Who are the stakeholders that should be included in the conversation relative to next steps? Are these individual conversations or a group discussion or both? What
questions should be asked?
What should you consider when making a determination about next steps?
Is there a timeline that should be considered? What does that timeline look like?
Part 2: Identify the Larger Issues
Identify school or district policy that might affect the decision.
What are the potential positive and negative outcomes of doing nothing?
What are the positive and negative outcomes of taking action?
Part 3: Solve the Problem
What information surfaced during your analysis that should be considered as part of the decision making process?
Create and describe your plan moving forward relative to the selection process?
How did you include the critical stakeholders in the decision making process?
What are the strengths and weaknesses to your plan?
Support your analysis and plan with 2-3 scholarly resources.
