Comment:
This research proposal provides a competent discussion on the issue of low impact development water management. It provides a descriptive account of the relevant
literature and indicates a general understanding the strengths and weaknesses of LID and the case for greater water management in China.
The proposal draws from a minimal number of sources - this does not allow you to engage fully with key academic debates. Proposal also does not engage with any
theoretical perspectives. It is important that you adopt a theoretical framework to guide your study. What frameworks have been adopted in the literature? Can you
adopt one of these? Or develop a hybrid?
Language at times is awkward making it difficult at times to understand e.g. the title does not read well.
Research questions are very clear, with a clear logical progression - well done.
Methodology draws on a number of research methods and analytical tools. Some of these methods are not feasible for a masters level dissertation e.g. a longitudinal
study and a representative random sampling. Even so, it is not clear how you will be collecting the data? Your methodology is general- who will you be conducting your
questionnaire to? What is the aim of the questionnaire? What is the link between these research methods and your research objectives. Further reading and thought is
required for a feasible methodology. Please read intext comments for further details.
Timetable is incomplete- dissertation also consists of up to 2 findings/data analysis chapters, a discussion chapter and a conclusion. You will need to consider this
in your timetable. Remember your supervisory meetings will end mid July- you should complete at least your first 3 chapter by this time.
