Sample Solution
The overall goal of my PSA is to bring awareness to endangered animal protections and promote better behaviors in order to protect them. My target audience would be people ages 18-35, primarily those living in urban areas since they are more likely to have access to technological resources necessary for viewing the PSA.
Currently, there are an estimated 5,500 species of animals that are listed as critically endangered or threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN). Among these species are some iconic animals like tigers, rhinos, and gorillas which face being driven further into extinction due to a variety of human activities such as poaching and habitat loss. In fact, humans have caused the extinction of at least 680 bird species over the past decade alone - without intervention this number will surely increase in time.
It is important for people to know about this issue because it has long reaching implications not only for our natural environment but also for ourselves as humans. Without proper protection and conservation measures, we will lose a large portion of biodiversity from our planet and thus weaken our ability to survive. Additionally, protecting endangered animals can provide economic benefits through wildlife tourism or sustainable use practices like ecotourism that help generate income while still preserving habitats and wildlife populations alike.
In conclusion, my PSA hopes to bring attention towards the importance of protecting endangered animals by emphasizing how their preservation helps both preserve nature’s beauty as well as provide economic opportunity if done sustainably. The primary source used here was IUCN's Red List whilst additional facts were cited from WWF Global's article on Animal Extinction Facts & Statistics along with Earth Day Network's article on Economic Benefits of Protecting Endangered Animals.
