Essay Topics for Theme III Choose one option from below as your essay topic. With either of these options, you are required to engage both readings of Cohen and course pack, as well as the content in one or a few lectures in Theme III. 1, Write an essay to explain how the interactions with the world affect the history of China, 1900-1937. (Your essay may focus on two, or more, events that took place in China, such as boxer uprising, republic revolution, migration to Manchuria, China’s participation in WWI, Communist movement, and the formation of Manchukuo, etc.) 2, Write an essay to explain how the interactions with the world affect the history of the Japanese empire, 1900-1937. (Your essay may focus on two, or more, events that Japan involved in, such as Russo-Japanese war, Japan’s participation in WWI, Japanese American migration, the formation of Manchukuo, and Japan-centered movement of Pan- Asianism, etc.) Due on 11/18, in hard copy.
