Evolution of Japanese Traditional Dances and their Connections to Cultural Celebrations and Festivals in Japan.

Description

Final Project / Paper:
Please Write a descriptive and informative paper regarding the origins, influence and evolution of Japanese Traditional Dances.

Consider the role of the dances and contributions within the culture.

Describe some of the most popular traditional Japanese dances and their culture relevance. Some examples are Kabuki, Noh Mai, Nihon Buyō, Bon Odori, and Jinta mai. (these are just a few)

What do the dances represent and how are they used to celebrate during festivals and on what occasions are they mostly performed?

How have the dances changed over time and what values remain current even today?

Over the years, have any modern dance styles been introduced within Japanese society / culture that has found itself as relevant or as important as the traditional styles?

These are just some ideas of questions that can be answered within the paper. Other ideas are welcome and we can discuss them together.

Here are some sources that may be useful, but feel free to add and contribute any other sources you find to be more informative or appropriate.

**** In order to avoid any misunderstandings in the structure of the paper, if possible, please send me portion or what ever you may have written a couple of days prior to the deadline so we can work together on crafting the best overall outcome. It does not have to be fully written. Even just the first 2 or 3 pages would help see if the flow of the paper is going along well. ****
