Expanding the Training of Nurse Practitioners to Include More Procedures: A strategy to solve Post-Affordable Care Act Physician Shortages This is to be a research paper supporting the expansion of nurse practitioner training to include more procedures that they may perform at bedside and in specialty procedure areas such as interventional radiology. The reason behind this expansion in training is to be able to meet the increased patient population since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act which has led to a physician shortage, especially in the procedural specialty.
