Order Description AC1.1: Explain the difference between sympathy and empathy a) From your learning, wider reading and with reference to the hand-out provided, discuss some of the implications for health and well-being for children living in poverty (A.C. 2.1 – 350 words approx.) b) Explain the term ‘stigma’ and ‘socially unrespectable illness’ and with reference your learning, wider research and the hand-out provided, discuss the sorts of experiences that a person who is subjected to stigma (e.g. living with mental illness or AIDS) might have in their daily lives (at work, at school etc.) and the potential impact of this on their the health, well-being and longer term life chances. (A.C. 3.1 – 350 words approx.) c) With reference to an example (e.g. The Mid Stafford shire Hospital scandal or the treatment of old people in some care homes) explain the causes of dis-empowerment and evaluate the consequences of feeling dis empowered. Give a brief reference to the situation then comment on how the experience of feeling or being dis-empowered can affect the physical and or mental health of the individual (and if appropriate how this can affect the ‘climate’ of the organisation where dis empowerment happens.)
