In a 12 point Times New Roman double spaced document, please select a play or story and address the following:
A) If writing on Faust, how is Faust represented as the “protagonist” of the story? Is he neutral? Greedy? Or simply subject to the folly and weakness of man? If writing on Kafka’s Metamorphosis—apply the questions found here to Gregor or another character from Kafka. If you select another story, the prompt will still apply: consider who the real protagonist of the story is and how they are represented.
B) Consider how the visual medium presents Faust as opposed to the text. Is Faust sympathetic in the film? Given the historical context of the story, does the story reflect the times and seem archaic portrayed in film or does it still play a part in today’s society in terms of its relevance? (If you are doing Kafka’s work, you can use The Fly as a film or if you are doing another story, consider historical context if films have not been adapted)
C) Finally, is Faust a tragic tale? Or is it an allegory and cautionary tale as to how we must use our knowledge? (Is Metamorphosis a cautionary tale? If using another story, consider themes and symbolism present in it or if this question above applies, use it)
Your paper must be in APA format with 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced. The paper must include at least three references, outside of the text book. The paper must be a minimum of 6-7 pages in length. The reference and title pages do not count towards the page limit.
