you need to create a table with the information requested in Results, Q4 – (ii)
2) For question 2 of questions and research part of the formal, it says to talk about if the unknown had significant absorbance at 415nm or 490nm. How are they supposed to answer this if the unknown was only read at 549nm?
What is your unknown protein and In your explanation, refer to the Figures and Tables you created in the Results section. Include in your answer the information you obtained from whether your unknown protein has significant absorbance at 549 nm ~415 nm or ~490 nm, and the molecular weight that you determined in your experiment.
3) For question 3 of the Questions and Research, is it asking to compare the elution data form blue dextran and vitamin B12 to molecules to ones that are closest to it on the chart provided online?
Yes, you have your Dextran Blue and Vit B12 experimental results and you’ve been given the “Complete Molecular Standard (CMS)” results. How do your results compare to the CMS results? Do your results follow the expectations based on gel filtration theory? Do the CMS results follow expectations based on gel filtration theory?
4) The instructions ask to find the “elution volume” of molecules within the Complete Molecular Weight Standards chart. Is there a specific equation they should use to determine the elution volume?
The CMS results posted on D2L were done under the same conditions as your experiment: 500 uL fractions were collected from the column. If you know how to calculate the elution volume for your standards and unknown, it is the exact same way for the CMS.
