The goal of this assignment is for you to practice working through and improving your understanding of different economics problems. Doing this extra credit assignment should help improve and deepen your understanding of economic logic applied in different frameworks/topics in the global economy that we did not get to cover too deeply during lectures. 2) Summarize two articles on research related to the Global Economy a. The goal of this assignment is for you to practice reading and analyzing current research and information on a variety of topics in the global economy. Doing this extra credit assignment should help you deepen your understanding of different topics/questions of the global economy that we didn’t discuss in lectures, develop your skills in reading and understanding data, concisely summarizing information. Doing this assignment should also help improve your writing skills. b. see instructions and questions for helping to write an effective summary 3) Great Depression or Recession and the Global Economy: Research Prompt a. The goal of this assignment is for you to practice doing research. Doing this extra credit assignment should help you develop your independent work skills, integrating course material, and improve your understanding/knowledge of the actual global economic events. Doing this assignment should also help improve your writing skills. Evaluation You can choose one of the assignments and earn 5 points towards your final grade. For example, if your final grade is an 85 doing the extra credit will get you to a 90. Economics Problem - Economics problem - must be correct for full credit. You can receive partial credit for showing workings, but not arriving at correct answer. Where a written response is required, it should be clear and succinct. Summaries and Research Assignment - Must be accurate. The research assignment should also use acceptable scholarly sources. - The summaries and research assignment must be well-written: coherence, organization, grammar and writing will be taken into account to receive full credit.
