In the four novels that we’ve covered in the preceding sessions, a number of new developments emerge in the Bildungsroman, which has become a truly global literary form. If the Irish might be said to have pioneered the global Bildungsroman, these writers take the form in directions that are both grounded in local traditions and strongly oriented toward global themes (for example, the role of imperialism in social development) and global connections. For Joyce and Bowen, exile served as a mode of achieving a global orientation. Lamming, Rhys, Rushdie and Djebar offer other modes. Choose only two of the books these authors and discuss the way local traditions and global connections and themes transform the narrative representation of self-development.
4 novels referred to above:
George Lamming, In the Castle of My Skin
Jean Rhys, The Wide Sargasso Sea
Salman Rushdie, Midnight's Children
Assia Djebar, So Vast the Prison
2.Land/Property Law
Answer the following question:
1. Discuss.
‘Because property rights bind the world, it is important to have clear
processes for creating and transferring those rights. Yet for reasons that seem
difficult to justify, English property law awards property rights to claimants who have
not complied with the basic formality rules. Equ'rty has gone too far in allowing
remedies to claimants who have behaved so foolishly as to counttheir chickens before they have hatched.’
